This week in public discussion

Sentiment around Todoist held steady over the recent period, with praise centered on ease of use and recurring task handling, and several commenters describing it as genuinely useful for staying organized. Complaints were roughly equal in volume, with bugs, reliability concerns, and missing features drawing notable criticism. A few mentions reflected users drifting toward alternatives due to workplace restrictions or a feeling that the app added pressure rather than reducing it.

I decided to move my personal todo list stuff from low-level notes over to todoist today. So I put "move todo list to todoist" on my todo list. And putting that todo list onto todoist meant putting "move todo list to todoist" in todoist.

Discussion around Todoist over the four-week window landed in notably divided territory, with praise and complaints running almost neck and neck in raw volume. Ease of use drew the most positive remarks, with commenters describing the app as a practical anchor for daily life organization, and several mentions framed it in personal, even self-deprecating terms, suggesting an emotional familiarity with the product rather than purely functional appreciation. Feature praise and a handful of positive integration comments rounded out the goodwill, though the praise side of the ledger carried noticeably fewer mentions than the complaint side.

On the negative end, bugs, reliability concerns, and missing features each accumulated substantial mention counts, and together they formed a persistent undercurrent of frustration. UI complaints and integration gaps added further weight to the critical side. Discussion suggested that some users felt the product had real potential that was being held back by execution issues rather than concept problems. One thread of commentary implied that competitors or self-hosted alternatives were starting to appear on the radar for users who found the core experience inconsistent.

The score trajectory over the tracked weeks showed a pattern of oscillation rather than any clean directional trend. Sentiment opened around a modest level in late April, dipped into the low forties by mid-May, briefly recovered, then slid back before recovering again in the most recent weeks. The overall four-week score remained flat against the previous period, which discussion context suggests reflects a kind of stalemate between loyal everyday users and those encountering repeated friction.

Opinion was most visibly divided around whether the product serves as a reliable backbone for personal productivity or whether its shortcomings push users toward workarounds and alternatives. Some commenters expressed genuine affection and dependence, while others described migrating to spreadsheets, paper, or competing tools.
